June

With the longest day passed and the foxgloves going to seed, I always feel a bit melancholy at the thought of another June drawing to a close.

The hedgerows are at their peak of brilliance in early June, with the following summer weeks starting to bleach the grasses and transform blooms into seed pods and fragrant elderflowers to berries.

That said, it’s been a splendid month. My wedding season is well underway, with all the marvellous theatre this brings with it: late nights and early mornings; weather drama – “it’s too hot!”, “it’s going to rain!”; the excitement and joy of setting up floral installations and delivering bouquets to teary brides in their silk dressing gowns.

I’ve had celebrations of my own with my birthday and wedding anniversary and plenty of tea breaks in the garden. I really wouldn’t want to be anywhere but home in Cornwall in the summertime!
